Are you Cyber Essentials accredited?

18 Jul

The risk of cyber threat has been sharply brought into focus in recent months, yet there is still a ‘it won’t happen to us’ attitude amongst many businesses.

The simple fact is that it CAN happen to any business, small or large. And it does.

How can you protect yourself?

The government recognised the problem and introduced the cyber security accreditation scheme Cyber Essentials and the more advanced Cyber Essentials Plus. They expect every organisation to be Cyber Essentials accredited by 2020.

The scheme sets out an excellent baseline of cyber security, suitable for all organisations and sectors. It addresses five key ‘controls’ that, when implemented correctly, can prevent around 80% of cyber attacks.

The scheme takes you through issues including secure configuration, malware protection, firewalls, patch management and access control to address all possible external and internal cyber security threats, leaving you better protected.

Why bother?

Certification is already an essential requirement for UK government contract bids and adopting it early is already reaping rewards for many businesses including new business opportunities, competitive advantages in their sectors and insurance cost savings.
